A major beach clearance operation has been completed at West Kirby Beach, marking a significant step in local management efforts. The project kicked off a couple of weeks ago with a dedicated team and heavy machinery hard at work. An excavator was actively securing clumps of sand and redistributing them across the beach. Additionally, two wagons shuttled the collected material to a nearby depot.
This clearance operation sets a new precedent for beach management in the area and highlights the community's commitment to maintaining and improving their local beach. It also signals a precedent in the ongoing efforts to address community efforts at Hoylake Beach, another local site that has been neglected for years and resulted in the loss of golden sands.
The clearance operation proceeded without any significant disruptions. Notably, no eco-warriors chained themselves to the equipment...
The community's response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive. Our ward councillors FB page video garnered an incredible 10,000 views within following the initial works. This surge of engagement underscores the high level of public interest and support for local initiatives to bring back our golden sands.
Parliamentary candidate, Jenny Johnson, working with Max, Tony and Andrew (councillors from Hoylake, Meols, and Central West Kirby) have pledged to continue being the people's voice. They emphasise their dedication to representing the community's interests, in contrast to those who may prioritise plants over people.
Jenny Johnson stated, "We are here to ensure that the voices of our community are heard and that their concerns are addressed. This beach clearance is just one step in our ongoing efforts to return our golden sands, if elected as your MP, I will raise these issues in Parliament and fight for similar clearance efforts in Hoylake."
Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops. The fight for Hoylake Beach is gaining momentum, driven by a community determined to make their voices heard, and councillors stand in lockstep to bring back the golden sands.
