Local West Kirby and Thurstaston Councillor Jenny Johnson has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for Wirral West at the next General Election.
The University of Liverpool associate professor was selected by Conservative members in the constituency on Saturday.
Speaking after the selection, she said: I am delighted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Wirral West.
I know people living and working here want a local MP to get on with the job and deliver on the Government’s plans. The people’s priorities here are the Government’s priorities and I want to help halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists, and stop the boats.
Having served as a Councillor for West Kirby and Thurstaston ward for four years, I have gained experience in representing residents both at ward level and at full Council meetings. I am politically aware and convicted, displaying this through building relationships with representative community bodies and individuals alike.
As the MP for Wirral West I would ensure I represent the people here in parliament. I want to firmly put Wirral on the map. My priority would be to use the personal skills that I have developed over the years to listen to the constituents and truly represent them collectively.
Until the next election, I will be working hard to show people here I am the right person to become their MP and help to improve the lives of families right across the constituency.
